Boulder Imaging

Inspect the Unexpected™

Boulder Imaging, Inc. is the leading U.S. imaging specialist providing real-time image acquisition, analysis, and processing solutions for high-speed, high-performance, and high-precision manufacturing, engineering, and scientific applications.  For the past 20 years we have developed proprietary firmware and software to create the fastest, most reliable, most flexible and accurate imaging systems in the world.  Our  Vision InspectorIntelligent Machine Vision and Quazar high performance digital video recording (HPDVR) systems simultaneously capture complex imagery from multiple camera/sensor inputs, and process and analyze that data in real-time.  Boulder Imaging's reputation for excellence in quality, innovation, and customer care has made it the fastest growing company in the imaging industry.

Boulder Imaging’s systems are currently used in machine vision, industrial production, product quality control, military testing and training (in the air, land, and water), object tracking, medical imaging, security applications, surveillance, motion analysis and scientific research.

The thorough understanding of the application needs of each customer and the ability to meet 100% of our customer's requirements has earned Boulder Imaging preferred partner status with Fortune 500 companies, military and government organizations, and top university and science research labs.  This level of exposure to diverse and demanding imaging applications has resulted in deep market intelligence and experience which contributes to the on-going development of cutting-edge technology that serves as the core of our imaging solutions.

Vision Inspector™ Machine Vision Products

The  Vision Inspector™ Intelligent Machine Vision product line is the culmination of the development of cutting-edge imaging technologies developed by Boulder Imaging.  This complete line of high-speed, high-precision inspection and measurement systems monitor, inspect, analyze, measure, archive, and detect anomalies, characteristics, and defects in parts (metal, plastic, glass, rubber, etc.), web materials (such as paper, films, etc.), components (such as labels, barcodes, etc.), production machinery, and high-speed manufacturing processes.  Boulder Imaging’s Vision Inspector systems provide unmatched recognition, accuracy, inspection capability, flexibility, speed, and usability across diverse quality inspection applications.  The systems allow for inspection and measurement with great accuracy, speed, and reliability, with the few to no false positives.

The Vision Inspector products are available “off-the-shelf” as general-purpose quality control and assurance systems.  They are easily configurable to meet the needs of a wide range of industries.  The Company is positioned to scale and take a leadership position in targeted areas of the growing machine vision market.

One of the unique differentiators of this product line is its remarkable intelligence and performance.  Vision Inspector systems are fast becoming the tool of choice for customers with high-speed, high-precision inspection needs and a more diverse array of requirements than smart camera solutions are able to provide.  Vision Inspector is in a performance class by itself because of the dynamic engineering that combines carefully chosen and qualified hardware with our image analysis software and firmware.  Vision Inspector is able to do what most other inspection systems can’t.  As a result, Boulder Imaging has acquired and continues to acquire top names in the manufacturing sector seeking to increase line speed, measurably reduce false positives, and increase inspection precision, at an affordable price-to-performance ratio.

Quazar High Performance Digital Video Recorder (HPDVR)

Quazar is the industry leading high-performance digital video recording (HPDVR)™ and analysis solution designed to provide real-time intelligence required to accelerate innovation, advance product testing and quality control, cut costs, and improve decision making.

Quazar is the only high-performance imaging solution that simultaneously records from multiple cameras of varying types with guaranteed zero data loss while processing and analyzing mission critical imagery and data in real-time for immediate results.  Quazar collects huge amounts of various data types, at speeds of up to 1.5+ Gigabytes per second.  It can accept the widest array of visual and nonvisual data input interfaces in the industry (CameraLink, GigE Vision, NTSC, SDI, DVI, HOTLINK, Infrared and many more).  The data can also be played back, processed, and analyzed synchronously.

Quazar systems are typically used for Anomaly Detection and Analysis, Flow Analysis, High Resolution Surveillance, Long Duration Recording, Motion Analysis, Product Performance Verification, Destructive Testing, and Non-Destructive Testing.

Management

Carlos Jorquera Founder and Chief Technical Officer
Leading up to the creation of Boulder Imaging, company founder Carlos Jorquera applied his background in physics and electrical engineering (with an emphasis in computer science) from MIT to develop scientific imaging systems for spacecraft and ground-based telescopes at NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL) in Pasadena, California.

It was at JPL that Mr. Jorquera began to realize the huge untapped opportunities that existed in the new high performance imaging field.  In 1995 Mr. Jorquera founded CJ Computational Systems LLC based out of Boulder, Colorado with the initial goal of providing consulting services in the field of high-performance imaging systems.  In 2000 the company was incorporated and renamed Boulder Imaging, Inc. Since then, Boulder Imaging has grown to be a recognized innovation leader by delivering state-of-the-art imaging systems to various industry segments across a wide range of applications.

Michael Willis President and Chief Operating Officer
Mr. Willis joined the company in August, 2009. He has served in leadership positions for technology companies since the 1980s and has considerable experience and expertise developing strong sales, marketing, and customer support organizations.  Mr. Willis recently served as the CEO for Tombstone Technologies, a publicly traded company. He served as the President and COO of Digital Creators, which was acquired in the late 1990’s; the President and co-founder of Digital Directions International Inc., a leading educational technology company; President and COO of Paragon Solutions; Group Vice President for Production and Development for Jones Digital Century, a division of Jones Intercable, then the 5th largest cable company in the US; and the Vice President for Production for Philips Interactive Media, a division of Philips Electronics.

Jie Zhu Kulbida, Vice President for Research and Development
For over 20 years, Ms. Kulbida has been solving some of the most challenging problems in image processing and artificial vision across diverse industrial and R&D environments.  Ms. Kulbida has extensive industrial and R&D experience in image processing, pattern recognition, neural networks, artificial intelligence, expert systems, mathematical data analysis and modeling, optics, systems and control.  Prior to joining Boulder Imaging Ms. Kulbida served on the senior technical staff at Xerox, NCR, and UPS in various R&D roles.  While at Xerox and NCR she helped develop key technologies for automated check processing and Point-Of-Sale devices, and at UPS she helped pioneer the automation of package handling and routing.  She has authored or co-authored a number of scientific and engineering papers for professional publications.  She also holds a number of patents through her work with Xerox, NCR, and UPS.Ms. Kulbida received a BS in Electrical Engineering from Shanghai Jiao Tong University, China, and a MS in Electrical and Systems engineering from the University of Connecticut.
