" Boulder Imaging’s Vision Inspector systems offer the most advanced intelligent

machine-vision in the the world for micron-accurate, in-line or off-line metrology

and surface defect detection on virtually any material. "

Surface Defect Detection

Vision Inspector Beacon scans a part, coating, or web material and instantly analyzes the surface for defects, non-uniformities, and other characteristics. Defects include chips, bubbles, inclusions, scratches, dents, non-registration, or any other non-uniformity. Beacon can also inspect thickness of coatings on just about any type of material.

Beacon categorizes products as pass or fail and sends appropriate instructions to a robotic or automated handling system to sort parts or    materials as appropriate. Defects can be characterized as well. If a part fails, a high resolution image and a detailed data profile of the defects are made available for analysis. Reports describing overall and specific performance characteristics of the part and the production process are available at any time anywhere in your organization. Beacon provides an easy to use interface for viewing defects and other stored inspection events, video, or images of defects. This allows a production manager or process engineer to identify and correct specific problems in real-time.

Continuous Process Inspection

With Vision Inspector Beacon, production processes that are continuously in motion can be inspected in-line, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week with no slowdown. Beacon detects defects, non-uniformities, and characteristics in precision parts (metal, plastic, glass, rubber, etc.), web materials (such as paper), and coatings (such as paint, ink, film, etc.).
Vision Inspector Beacon as an in-line or off-line inspection solution provides:

  • Micron-level inspection of surface quality and non-uniformities; including defects, inclusions, visual distortions, bevels, dimensional changes, contours, and structural features.
  • Analysis of spectral variation (light, reflection, or color).
  • Web/print inspection (registration, regularity, uniformity).

Parts Measurement

Boulder Imaging’s Vision Inspector Benchmark non-contact coordinate measuring machine (CMM) provides immediate, accurate, high-precision, micron-level parts inspection and measurement in-line or off-line.

Benchmark does in seconds what previously required numerous laser and probe measurement devices and manual inspection tools (typically in multiple locations) and over 20-30 minutes to complete. Place the part into the inspection cell, then click a button to measure all part features down to the nearest micron.

Benchmark is powerful:

  • Features >.5mm in length are measured to approximately +/- 4µm. At >1mm, measurements of approximately +/- 2µm are achieved.
  • Parts up to 2.5” in diameter and 2” – 7.5” in length.

High Performance Recording

Vision Inspector Quazar provides high-performance digital video recording, processing, and analysis. Quazar simultaneously records, processes, and analyzes data from multiple cameras of varying input types; capturing data at rates of up to 1.5+ gigabytes per second with guaranteed zero data loss.

Vision Inspector Quazar provides:

  • Ability to handle high-speed, high-resolution, and high-throughput data simultaneously.
  • Long duration recording capacity of up to 32 terabytes of local data storage and virtually unlimited recording duration with circular buffer.
  • Powerful and versatile image processing tools.
  • Recording speeds of up to 1.5 + gigabytes per second.
  • Records directly to a LAN network, memory, or to disk.
